This is Belhaven Park.

They are now hunting at night for victims...in the middle of Belhaven.

Jobs alert: Security guards

Anonymous said...

Losers have figured out that the liberals in Belhaven oppose any and all measures for security as well as any type of gates or dead ending several exit streets for security reasons. They want to be all inclusive and get super offended on the next door website for any alert to a suspicious person if you list the person's skin color. I say well you need to put safety above all else. They told me I was offensive at meetings and paid me no attention from that day on 2 yrs ago.

Anonymous said...

I'm typically waiting for my friend to walk up at 12:30 a.m.

Anonymous said...

What do people expect to happen when you live in Jackson? Very hard to feel sorry for people like this. They did it to themselves.

Anonymous said...

Probably a catch and release product of hinds Co court system

Anonymous said...

Some of you are leaving stupid comments about what do people expect and what were they doing waiting on a friend at 12:30. The issue is not what people expect, but what they are willing to accept. Don't blame the rape victim for dressing too sexy, but you're willing to blame these two victims because they were outside their home after you've gone to bed? I choose not to accept that we should all just be safely locked inside our fortresses after 10:30.

Wow said...

From Edgewood last night I heard pop, pop, pop, pop PAUSE pop pop (pop).

Police came quickly after. I wonder if the perps were just horrible shots or if they exchanged fire?

Really hate this for Belhaven. Security cameras need to be installed everywhere.

Anonymous said...

at least this likely forced a couple liberals to see reality.

Anonymous said...

Exactly right, 9:06am.....You should be able to be out and about safely at any hour. That’s why we moved to Madison.

"They want to be all inclusive and get super offended on the next door website for any alert to a suspicious person if you list the person's skin color."

Tom Head is the WORST offender. He is an outright bully on Nextdoor.

This is just another reason I moved my family out of Belhaven, Jackson and the state. I encouraged all my children to get the hell out of Mississippi and they did. They all love where they moved---my grand daughter has 12 kids in her class---no blacks or Mexicans and it is a public school. The education level is incredible.

jumping to nextdoor now, should be interesting.

Agree with the "Catch and Release" of our court. Also agree that we should not have to be inside our homes at 10:30 to live safely. When the original proposal was written for Belhaven Security, it recognized that the premeter would always be vulnerable. Not sure where the 1000 block of Poplar is. These folks are trolling in Belhaven and have been for some time. Easy access to Interstate and Belhaven Heights. Also, is Fortification is the dividing line for Precincts???

Anonymous said...

Just about every one I know in Belhaven has been held up at gunpoint at least once. A few have been victims of home invasions.

9:25 you're living in a dream world if you believe that. I used to think it was a funny book name, but I have come to understand and wholeheartedly believe: Liberalism IS a mental disorder! Rarely is it curable.......

8:38 and 9:28, you guys seem really proud. Congratulations on being so "smart."

9:32, "no blacks or mexicans" - so very glad that you found a place where you don't have to endure the outrage of encountering a minority.

9:54, I've lived in Belhaven for four years. I've never been a victim of violent crime. I know some people who have had their house broken into (while they were not home), but no one I know has been held up at gunpoint or by any other violent means. I don't think you are being honest at all.

I knew better than to look at the comments . . .

@ 9:30

I am super offended that they identified the alleged perps as male. We need to be gender neutral when describing people that inflict terror on neighborhoods. Moreover, since we should be clothing color neutral and clothing type neutral.

The release should have properly read: "One or more individuals of unknown gender and race may have possibly discharged, purposely or accidentally, a firearm one or more times in an area believed to have been located somewhere in Central Mississippi, or elsewhere, resulting in an apparent injury to another individual who appears to be unrelated to the alleged perpetrator(s). JPD is investigating this matter subject to a determination of jurisdiction by the Hinds County District Attorney. Residents are urged to carry bottles, rocks, and bricks in the event a police chase becomes necessary."

Belhaven has been crime ridden for a very long time. I'm female and lived alone on Edgewood Street in 1986. I experienced several instances of young black male criminals openly casing my house and me, and one even tried to jerk open the driver's side door of my car when I stopped at a stop sign behind the old Jitney 13 one night coming home from work. One night about 10 pm, someone knocked on my door which I foolishly answered, thinking it was my boyfriend. Instead a thug was standing there with a lawn mower with NO MOTOR on it, offering to cut my grass for money. I slammed the door and called the cops. About a year later I was able to move out of there to Rankin County where I felt a lot safer. I hate this for Belhaven which was once a beautiful place to live, but safety comes first.

Uh Huh said...

You're not going to find 3 Mormons riding bikes, knocking on doors, handing out pamphlets and wanting a discussion after dark in Ward 3. There is a reason for this. Likewise,3 black males dressed in dark clothing and armed with handguns working under the cover of darkness at 12:30 in the morning probably aren't equipped with bikes and backpacks chok'd full of Malcolm X Grassroots Movement pamphlets. They don't need to, as this is the "by any means necessary" part of the Free the Land movement. So what have we learned here? It's probably not a good idea to have your lady friend waiting on you in her car at 12:30 a.m. in Belhaven while you are taking one last bong hit during the closing statements of CNN's Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper lecturing you on "White Privilege". After all, it IS "dark" outside at 1230 a.m.

Well played JPD, said...

Interesting how the press release reads the victims as just a male and female, yet describes the assailants as "black males". Yes, I get it. The race of the assailants helps with the BOLO. However, leaving out the race of the victims suppresses the suggestion of a racial crime because after all, we just don't know do we?

Pressure as the DMZ pushes east from State to I55 and in the north, east of I55, from County Line south. Belhaven, Fondren and LeFleur East shrink with easy passing crime day. You can have the city BabyChok but you can't fund your socialist Kushnik pipe dreams after the little remaining value of property has gone to hell.

10:02,

This is 9:32---You don't have a clue if you only lived there four years---we (my family) lived in Belhaven 25 years across the street from the college. Someone tried to steal my Cadillac more than once. There was a shootout within 50 feet of my front door. You are lucky to be alive so don't make stupid comments.

All my kids and grandkids live in another state and are happier than I've ever see them. My wife and I moved our 50 year old business and our home to Flowood and it is still not far enough away from Jackson.
I'm closing down at the end of 2018 and moving to my kid's town. It can't happen quick enough for me !!!!!!

New 200 unit cheaply constructed and already filthy subsidized housing complex opened and being filled directly behind Sal & Mookies. Fondren, Jackson's last stand, is fallen. Time to cut and run. The Mississippi "economy" consists of receipt of government transfer payments by one demographic and "capture" of these proceeds by vile and vulgar usurers, slumlords, buy here-pay here car lots, rent-to-own usury schemes, etc, etc. combined with state taxation, additional "taxes" in the from of private school tuition....its a failed state. Run. "But muh fambly is from here" is an emotional decision, not an economically rational decision. You really don't have to wallow in such filth, poverty, crime, immorality, hopelessness and fear.

This was posted by the female victim on ND a few minutes ago.
"It was my boyfriend (camp) who was shot and he does live in that apartment. I had been doing our laundry at my dad's house in Madison and had called him to help me get the baskets out of the car right before I got to the apartment. I parked the car and grabbed my purse and another bag from the front seat then turned to exit my car through the drivers side. Next thing I know there are 3 black males with guns pointed at me telling me to give them money and my car keys. I screamed and camp came running outside. He yelled at them and they started running away and shooting. I don't know exactly how many shots were fired but I know it was a lot. They just kept shooting."

Speaking of the low income housing behind Sal and Mookies, didn't we get a person very well connected to the NE Jackson/Belhaven area as the 2015 new director of the MS Home Corp?

Only one person on this thread is going to say something about 9:32 am finding a school for his grandkids without blacks or "mexicans." Really? No one else is going to chastise him for his bless his heart stupidity and point him in the direction of a more appropriate alt-right subreddit?

I’d pay good money to see the conversation on Belhaven’s Nextdoor. Anyone?

Anonymous said...

Then get a life and some friends 8:30. And NO 11:57, not a drug deal.
Poor girl was pulling in from doing laundry and called the house for assistance bringing it in. When she opened her car door, they were there. When she screamed, her boyfriend came out. The guys fled and started firing, striking him once.
There is really no need to speculate and comment when you don't have a clue!!!

Anonymous said...

3:18, the conversation on ND is pretty much apolitical so far. At least comparatively.

Making clueless comments on a blog about Jackson is a suburban terdishun.

Anonymous said...

All you suburbanites calling us folks in Belhaven "nieve liberals" don't really have a clue what our community is about. I could try to explain why some of us choose to live in Jackson but I know it would fall on deaf ears. But I will say this; No one I know is worried about being PC when it comes to dealing with crime. Most of us are very armed and willing to protect our selves. What we choose not to do is hide behind fake stuccoed walled, cookie cutter, gated communities. We actually stand our ground and we love our neighborhoods and know our neighbor's names.

11:07 Please please please tell me where that town is, not joking, I am liquidating my holdings in the metro area and want that for my grandkids and kids. 7:18, There are a number of modern, prosperous, and safe cities in the South that your grandchildren can grow up in and have a wonderful childhood, the best of educational opportunities, meaningful and profitable work careers, and in turn one day raise their own families with the best of neighbors. These cities have nearby highly-rated, economic development-type colleges and universities (not an Ole Miss) and downtown areas that are safe, walkable, cultural, and even livable. I, and my grandchildren, live in one of these cities. However, we inhabitants of these cities do have admission criteria and it is this: If you are not driven enough to be able to do your own research, including something as simple as a Google search, in order to find these cities, then you are likely the type that expects others to do things for you and, therefore, you will not fit in here. If so, then perhaps Jackson, Mississippi is the place for you. I feel for your grandkids, especially if they end up at Ole Miss.

Why does everyone who lives in Rankin/Madison enjoy criticizing the rest of us that live in Belhaven/Fondren so much? It sort of reminds me of a Donald Trump insecurity complex. "I am the greatest because I say so" type thing.

It is ok. You moved. I hope you are happy. I could careless if you are or not but I don't spend my time worrying about why you live in Reunion. Stop worrying about us. We are fine in our pot hole, crime infested hell hole.

It is kind of awesome.

Anonymous said...

I’d rather be shot than drive in from Madison daily.

One day when traffic issues are resolved there maybe I’ll move there.

But that traffic in the morning and afternoon takes years off your life.

Anonymous said...

I always laugh at the traffic comments. I live in Madison County and have a 15 minute commute to my Ridgeland office. If that sort of traffic is worth a gunshot for you, then residing in Jackson is your only option in life I suppose. If you lived somewhere like Atlanta or Austin, you would probably lose your mind.

Anonymous said...

You've obviously never lived in a real metro area @6:10 AM if you think the commute traffic here is bad. Enjoy you bullet wounds.

Anonymous said...

One question i have always had when we get these threads on the benefits and hazards of the various communities in the metro....What the hell is fake stucco? Do people even know what stucco is? Do they know what EIFS is? Do they know the difference? Nope. They just parrot stupid bullshit that doesn't exist.

And for the moron who would rather be shot than sit in a car for a total of a half an hour every day....have you ever been shot? go get a high powered bb gun and pump one into the top of your foot for a tiny tiny taste of the pain your are seeking. It really wont be close, but will give some a small idea of what you are saying. Idiot.

Dear 6:10am: It takes me less than twenty minutes to get from my home in Gluckstadt to be parked at my place of work in Midtown. It would take longer if I didn’t leave my house by 7am, but I think that’s reasonable. But hey, you’d prefer being shot....soooooo....ok. We’ve all got our priorities. I’m not attacking you for living in Belhaven, Fondren, or Northeast Jackson. You do you. We’ll be praying for safety for y’all. Lots of us can live in Madison County and still root for you guys down in the city. Peace.

If you have to get on a Jackson blog by a Jackson blogger to tell people from Jackson how great your suburb is, that says more about your insecurity and sense of inferiority than anything.

Anonymous said...

“.....in the Jackson, Mississippi area” reads the last of the site’s tag line. And KF just reported on a church in Madison. So is it ok if we comment on this site yet, 9:23am?

Anonymous said...

9:23am, I dont see anyone talking about how great their suburb is. I see a lot of people talking about how shitty Jackson is, which is fact. There is not one redeemable aspect left of the city I once loved. I think it is you with the inferiority issues.

10:18: In other words, you’re saying people are just whining as they’re curled up in the fetal position in fear of the big, scary city. Cool.

FACT: I sold my home in Belhaven within the last year and took a $37,000.00 loss.

I DO NOT NEED TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well my house is paid for in Jackson with a very reasonable basis.

It’s not made of fake stucco or real stucco....it’s an old brick house.

No debt living.

Instead of paying $3500 (or more) a month I travel and enjoy living life.....you know...why we we here?

But you keep on telling yourself how great Madison is because of how bad Jackson is....

I’ll be in Europe for a while....so leave a message.

I live in the heart of FNEJ. By most standards I am wealthy. I drive German cars. My home is paid for. I will go to the CCJ tomorrow to watch the golf tournament. I am a long term member. I will wear a yellow alpaca sweater, penny loafers and no socks. I am unaware of any crime around me except a couple of years ago a neighbor was shot and wounded in Eastover. During the middle of the day. By blacks. Also a while back a couple living at CCJ was broken into at night and robbed. By blacks. Other than those little miss steps its been quiet.
Women from Madison dress poorly, talk too loud, have bleached blond hair and plastic tits. They all seem to drive white suv's.
I'm staying. I have never liked Belhaven.

i love seeing recent residents of jackson or longsuffering jacksonians with stockholm syndrome preaching to people about how moronic they are to pay way too much in taxes only to have to send their kids to private schools and suffer from crappy infrastructure, fear of crime, stagnant property values, and such. It's quite fascinating. The aggressive stance they take when they start lashing out b/c they are forced into the corner and people point out their delusion.

My house was robbed while living in a so-called secure, gated development. So I moved to the Eastover area...we were robbed several times there and attempted to be robbed twice....we sold our beautiful house on a large, tree filled lot that we loved because I was scared...during the day...afraid to go out in my own gardens to do what I love to do...raise and grow flowers. We couldn't take it anymore...we took a loss financially but regained piece of mind...I still miss my house and gardens in Jackson...and I still love the Belhaven, Woodland Hills, Fondren, Eastover areas....so yes, we moved to Madison County...sometimes you have to do what you have to do to survive....oh, and our taxes are less here.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:29 - if you've been robbed that many times, I think YOU are the one doing something wrong.

I moved away from Jackson in the 80’s. I really loved the city. It is so sad to see the pathetic mess it is today.
If economies were not undercut by artificial wage floors that are caused by the welfare system, the natural progression would be companies swooping in to take advantage of low wages and people eager to work. These people would have an income might move up the career ladder. However, to induce people to give up their layers of government subsidies they get for not working and to take a job would require businesses to pay in excess of 50k to the employee. Businesses are competing with the government in terms of labor incentives. Capitalism solves poverty much better than any socialized govt programs no matter how well intended. The so called war against poverty has cured nothing and destroyed the families and social fabric of our lowest economic rung of citizens. Thereby, making these welfare recipients basic wards of the state. Coming out of the liberal plantation is virtually impossible because you have no skills, a half ass govt education, no family structure and to top it off it is much easier to live poorly in a subsidized state and not work than to have to work for a living for the same amount or less. No substantial business is coming to Mississippi until the scales of economy either tip or balance to their favor. Particularly, if their mid management and above can not live safely in the city. Jackson is doomed. They have lost almost its entire tax base and have infrastructure issues that can not be cured without said tax base. Schools, water system, roads etc. will stay the same or get worse no matter what. Bond issues and the like are robbing Peter to pay Paul, and, they put the city on a road to insolvency. So pathetic and sad.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
