Mason defeats Lewis with the help of the GOP , Alexander edge Smith. Steen survives and Howland is the only one of MCS that fall.

Just My Guess said...

Hawkeye-Butler garners twelve percent of the vote, Steen survives, Howland bites the dust, Pickle-Boy goes to the house in Madison and is hired by Rudy to monitor water levels, Chaney wins handedly, Billingsly celebrates, Tyromes brings home the bacon with his promises kept slogan, Shuler-Smith's last minute MLK photos saves his ass, and Kingfish heads to Disney World with 100k in ad money.

Let's see if anyone wants to take these over/under..

Bryant % - 85
Reeves % - 75
Fitch % - 55
Pickering % - 65
Hawkins-Butler counties won (out of 82) - 15

Sorry Dr. Smith. Got your call and your son have proven to not be cut out for the job. Is he still living at home with you and his mom?

Billingsly upsets lomgwitz. Smith narrowly defeats Alexander.

Prediction....Hinds makes better decisions than Madison despite fewer decent candidates.

Pammi Hancock is a solid focused attorney who knows what needs to be fixed in Madison at the County level. WIN

Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler is a harbinger of what is right with Mississippi. Corruption will be on notice. BIG WIN

Stanley Alexander is a better alternative. EVEN RACE - WIN

Will and Bill - I admire both of them. The communities they seek to represent will be served well, regardless. WIN EITHER WAY

A little known up and coming young man is Zach Wallace in Hinds County. He has been dedicated to the community he serves for years already, his leadership will change the pace. BIG BIG WIN - we have someone who actually cares running the clerk's office.

Anonymous said...

Hinds....Graham, McQuirter, Calhoon, Morgan, Stringfellow, Tyrone and Shuler Smith, in August and November.

Bomgar wins against the future post office maniac, but it's closer than it should have been.

Longwitz holds on

Mary will be lucky to win Madison County, and will go home to protect Madisonites against the rampant gang violence surrounding Mecca.

All statewide incumbents re-elected.

All of the Madison Supervisors survive. Steen and Crosby escape narrowly while Howland wins handily.

Longwitz sails to reelection by a 20 point margin.

Bomgar dispatches with Bartley by at least 15.

Pantin and Hodges go to a runoff for clerk, Pantin wins.

The big unknown in the auditor race is the Coast vote, a lot of folks down there are still upset over Pickering's handling of the DMR situation. Add that with the recent developments and Mayor Mary could win a good number of votes there.

McRae beats Fitch handly
Chaney wins, but a lot closer than expected
Hawkins-Butler pulls off an upset
Steen is the only supervisor to win re-election due to his strong support in Ridgeland
Longwitz wins by a huge margin
Pantin and Hodges go to run off, Pantin wins huge in run off
Harbor wins huge against Shackelford for Constable
Bartley beats Bomgar by 50 votes or less

Slater and Johnson both win the D primary for Gov and Lt. Gov, only to be embarrassed in November by Phil and Tate

Ah....except people in this job have nothing to do with 'fixing' anything.

Tyrone gets four more years to hire a decent locksmith.

After seeing the latest paid advertisement on JJ from Will Longwitz, I, a citizen too disgusted with modern politics to want to vote, decided to go vote for Bill Billingsly because anyone running for office that thinks an advertisement such as that is even remotely OK, neither deserves the public trust or is likely to care about the public trust.

So, the woman who brought you all those Oxford Houses endorses Billingsley?

Truth hurts?

I despise Longwitz but this fact clinches my vote for him. Billingsley is just too out of touch with normal voters for the job.

Mary shocks the world and wins and immediately announces her resignation as mayor to focus on her campaign. In another shocker, Tim Johnson is appointed interim mayor of Madison and immediately announces a $100 million engineering study to support building a $1.5 billion stadium with a retractable roof on the Galleria Parkway. Plan is for JSU to play sports there and at the same time court the New England Patriots, New York Mets, Miami Heat, Sugar Bowl, and Dixie National Rodeo to relocate to Madison, using our new airport for additional leverage.

Anonymous said...

Mary wins Desoto, Madison, Warren, the coast counties along with a few rural ones and upsets Pickering 51%-49% on the strength of Republican women voters. She also wins 2 of the southern county supervisor races, but one of the 3 incumbents win and then subsequently will cut a deal with the 2 northern Madison County supervisors and Rudi remains in power, or at least till the new auditor catches up with him.

Longwizt wins handily. And Bomgar loses in a close race, and blames it on Democrats and Thad Cochran supporters before filing a lawsuit over the election.

Mississippi is devoid of leadership and no potential leaders want to participate. The entire state government structure is bloated, expensive, wasteful, and loaded with ignorant, pompous gladhanders. It is really bad. And I'll bet Rankin Co. will elect another nepotist to head what should be one of the best school systems in the state but which can't keep up with Clinton or Madison Co. But Robert Morse provided us with one of television's best moments in recent years, didn't he?

Anonymous said...

I would NEVER vote for the candidate endorsed by Anna Fiser Stephens. She deliberately and knowingly destroyed her neighbor's home values. Bill BIllingsley says we should all just shut up and take it. How much money have people lost as a result of that selfish woman's actions?

I have already voted for Will Longwitz.

Hey, 9:06 - It's apparent you have no original thoughts since you just did a little switch-a-roo with names from 7:33. No big surprise coming from a Morrison supporter - you must fit right in.

From people who have worked with him, I've heard numerous times that Morrison is a nice person but has great difficulty making a decision on his own; i.e. no original thoughts.

So if Morrison wins, who will be his mentor...... (drum roll).... Weathersby. Yep. Four more years of the Weathersby regime just under a different name.

Longwitz should spend less time focusing on cyberbullying constituents and more time explaining his hidden expenditures on his campaign expenditure reports.

12:14 I don't agree. Anna Fiser Stephens put that out for the world to see. The world sees it. Stephens and Oxford House are in cahoots with Billingsley. Billingsley doesn't care what happens to Northeast Jackson. Some of Billingsley's biggest donors and supporters work for the Department of Mental Health. That raises major red flags for any thinking person. When Longwitz started asking questions of DMH, they sure got mad about it. What are they hiding? And are they backing Billingsley now because he will help them hide it in the future?

Taggert FBed his endorsements. He left out the House 58 race. He was earlier a Bomgar supporter or at least on the mail outs as one. Note: Bomgar had dozens of people on a list of supporters but only 3 no names allowed their picture to be used on his endorsement letter. Everyone has bailed.

Senator Longwitz has based his entire campaign on DMH and Oxford Houses. Fact is that the MS Department of Mental Health would have been forced to close Oxford Houses had they did anything wrong. (And please don't tell me that the Governor asked them to close because the Governor was mislead by Longwitz). The state of Mississippi only funds alcohol and drug services with a measly 3% sales tax. So by all means let's place the services under the Governor and the legislatures can figure out how to fund the needs of our citizens). A Senator should know the impact that this would have on our state and Billingsley gets it. Higher crime, higher number of kids in welfare, higher medical cost. There is a price to pay when you are only supporting a minority of wealthy individuals that live in one neighborhood. Not to mention that Longwitz accuses DMH of misusing funds with no proof yet he can't even run his own campaign funding with integrity.

I will be voting for Billingsley because he cares for ALL OF HIS CITIZENS....not just the ones that live in one particular neighborhood. No I do NOT work for DMH and I also do NOT live in Maryland

Bill Billingsley for SENATE!!!

What is the point of Andy Taggert endorsement on this website appearing after 1/3 of the people have voted ? Did they get 50% discount by waiting so late to post this ad ? Makes no sense.

Well I voted in Madison this morning. Thankfully I was able to vote my conscience. Glad most of you JJ commenters aren't voting here with us!!

Bomber just rubs me the wrong way. Pro-Madison schools, but he homeschools his kids. Moved his entire family on a whim so he could run for this spot. Guess that's no different than changing the spelling of your last name because a PR firm says its better for your business and political aspirations.

Anonymous said...

No Bomgar poll workers out. Employees have been messaging people on Facebook urging people not to vote for him. Has no volunteer ground game. Madison HOA presidents worked against him. School parents and teachers organized last 2 weeks with email and door to door campaign. Only visible support are the smattering of angry tea party folks. Other candidates have been upset at his campaign tactics, they have voting blocks. He just pissed off to many people.

Anonymous said...

Would you change one letter in your last name for $50 million dollars? I would. Would you home school your kids if you were a genius and didn't have to work? Maybe not, but its defendable. Would you run for office and subject yourself to comments from rednecks even though you are doing it for selfless reasons? I would not, but I admire Joel for doing it.

I wish him the best. If he loses, its not due to anything but great organization from the education establishment (teachers union and rednecks defending their all-white schools). If he loses, it certainly is not due to credentials of his opponent, as he has NONE.

He lived for a while in Jackson. Do you blame him for home-schooling his kids? Joel was home-schooled and I'd say his lot in life has turned out pretty damn good but of course in the minds of some, that is reason enough to hate him.

3:30 Thank you for your rant. Voted for Will. Glad I did along with just about everyone else on my NEJ street.

Bomgar grew up like many or most of us, without a silver spoon in his mouth. Even after the millions he's made, he and his wife still drive USED cars... (and neither is a Mercedes).

Say all the negative stuff you want, but he still resonates with a majority of folks.

Kingfish said...

Wait, you mean he doesn't live in Reunion, doesn't have his home mortgaged to the hilt, doesn't have a Porsche SUV for the wife and a Land Rover for himself? You mean he doesn't spend a fortune on doctors telling him his kids have ADHD and can't do well in school? You mean he's not going to give his kids a souped up corvette when they turn 16?

Horrible, HORRIBLE parenting.

Anonymous said...

We need a "like" button. Well said KF.

Anonymous said...

No KF, I don't "blame" him for homeschooling his kids. But it is hard for him to campaign on a pro-public education platform while doing so. Just as many good candidates are slammed by the teacher's union for sending their kids to private or parochial schools.

I think everyone should do what they think best for their kids education. Don't 'blame' any of them. But have trouble putting his campaign rhetoric together with his choice.

I assume it is Taggart since everyone keeps spelling his last name as Taggert??

When did this happen. Just curious.

Anonymous said...

4:52 "But have trouble putting his campaign rhetoric together with his choice."

No, he had no trouble putting his campaign rhetoric together with his choice. You, and others like you, had trouble accepting it. That's why there's also a democratic party.

Anonymous said...

Don't agree with KF that much but he's spot on at 4:49. DISCLAIMER---I've met and like Bomgar but have never met nor do I dislike his opponent. Bomgar with all his millions lives and acts modestly. Wish I'd have home schooled my kids instead of the hundreds of thousands spent on prep school. Even though I never spent a day in public school and my parents and I spent a fortune on private undergrad, college and grad school, I'm STILL a HUGE proponent of public schools. I think that most educated people see the value of public schools whether or not they attended one or sent their kids to one.

Anonymous said...

4:52 "Just as many good candidates are slammed by the teacher's union for sending their kids to private or parochial schools."

How can you use that reasoning when you're trying to beat up on a conservative candidate?

Looks like the Republicans in Mississippi have taken the Democrats place as the party of do nothing for the middle class.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
