Surrender!

A suspect in the CCJ home invasion last week turned himself in yesterday. WLBT reported:

Jackson police say the suspect wanted in a home invasion in Jackson last week turned himself in Tuesday night.

Vincent Smith is one of two suspects in the home invasion Wednesday in the 400 block of Saint Andrews Drive at the Jackson Country Club.

Good detective work by JPD. WLBT has the rest of the details of the arrest in its story. However, there is one little set of disturbing facts reported and its not even a case of revolving door justice. More like catch and release:

This isn't Vincent Smith's first brush with the law. He has been charged with more than a dozen crimes in at least two different jurisdictions in the past four months.

Vincent Smith is the man who authorities say used a scooter during house burglaries earlier this year.

Back in March, Jackson Police Assistant Chief Lee Vance told us 22-year-old Smith "is an example of a guy that we've been problems with for awhile. Right now, he's charged with six counts of house burglary in the Precinct 4 area."

However, looking at their current records, JPD says Smith was arrested for three counts of house burglary and two counts of possession of stolen property in March.

Vance says that's not unusual. Sometimes the charges change after a closer look at the evidence. Smith's bond for those offenses was $15,000 for the two house burglaries and $2,500 for stolen property. He was also arrested for felony possession of MDMA, or ecstasy, and felony possession of marijuana at that time.

Then, in August, Smith was arrested again for felony possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was granted $26,000 bond for those charges.

Why was Smith let go again? According to the Hinds County District Attorney's office, the felony possession of marijuana charge carries a maximum of only three years in prison. Because of that, his bond could not be revoked despite the prior charges in March.

Smith is now accused in a home invasion Wednesday on St. Andrews Drive in Jackson.

We talked to Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith about repeat offenders getting back out on the street. In his research on Vincent Smith, he found a series of drug and weapons charges out of Madison County from July, two of which met the requirement to revoke bond. He says it's something the justice system runs into from time to time. Article

Nice. Very nice.

CONGRATULATIONS JPD!. I'm going to post this butt-kissing praise of JPD 18 times in this thread so it'll look like a bunch of people are proud of our jobs program of a police department and that they deserve praise for doing what they're paid to do.

For those of you who don't want to lick to boots of the Kush military and put lipstick on a pig, well, racism.

Wow, Rankin Chancery must have raised somebody's child support yesterday. Or WalMarts wouldn't renew his hunting license, ect...

I think JPD does deserve acccolades. Looks like this chief is the real deal, something that has been missing for quite a while.

Time to go back to the Old Testament and start chopping off fingers, hands, etc...Or better yet, let's see what the Quran would say to do to these thugs...I haven't read the Quran, but my guess would be the same punishment. Society doesn't need these losers.

Where's the Chief? Time to trot him out. He deserves and needs face-time with the media, unlike the starched shirt appointed by Johnson who rode a desk and pissed off all the department the past four years.

It's as if the mayor 'don't like the POleece'.

What a relief that these two have been apprehended. Now, all eyes on the justice system to see if they will do some serious time.

Maybe the Chief doesn't like being "trotted out" like some prize bull. Maybe he prefers to quietly do what needs doing. If the mayor didn't like the police he wouldn't have appointed a capable man, jackass.

Great job JPD. Glad to see it.... I feel like we are also seeing more patrols too. Definitely more speed traps. Even saw someone handing out parking tickets downtown.

@2:11. I'm no jackass but you seem to be in a fog. Jackson PD needs credibility. One part of building it is visibility. Not just seeing blue and whites on the interstate system under bridges. The last chief was virtually invisible. Nobody needs to be 'trotted out'. He needs to trot his own ass out and take charge and earn credibility for himself and the department. Residents of all of Mississippi, and especially the Metro, should know his name and recognize his face.

Hinds Co. S.O. and Madison S.O. both gained a degree of confidence and credibility because of McMillan and Trowbridge being willing to go on television often and address the public.

It was Lumumba's own lips that the words "I don't like the POleece" were spoken.

Perhaps I'm just honestly dumb. When someone goes before a judge, who is responsible for pulling a list of any other charges to make sure the judge has this information? Is it the judge? the judge's assistant? the police? the district attorney?

Society doesn't need these losers. One bullet solves this problem.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
