The manner in which this incident has been reported (or lack thereof) is just shady. I college kid gets gang-style murdered in his dorm room and the amount of info being put out to the public is a pittance. Very strange. What gives?

Anonymous said...

A young man was murdered by at least one individual with a gun and two accomplices. It does not appear to be a random shooting. The police have identified three suspects but have not released their names. Based on this arrest, it appears that the police are somehow managing to perform their duties without the help of the public.

What am I missing? Are we owed more information?

Anonymous said...

Where they students ? What was their motive ? How did they get into the dorm? Too many questions ?
Praying for the victims family

I think the police should investigate the killing and they do not owe the public to share all the evidence as it relates to motive or what they were doing. this is a criminal investigation.

Drug task force operations keep a tight lid on their work and moves

Anonymous said...

That may be the way they operate. Hard to criticize when they are making progress. They have made more progress than JPD has with shooting of JSU student, but maybe they had more to work with.
Definitely a tragedy for both families and both schools.

Interesting that they learned the perp had husteled out of Starkville to Jacktown and gotten on a bus headed north. Good work. Or good snitch. Also of interest was the comment earlier by State officials that you had to get through three forms of security in order to access a room. Maybe something was broken. However, he was shot in the hallway, not in a dorm room. Is Obama phoning the family yet?

Anonymous said...

Hate crime? Will Obama condemn? Will "Rev." Al rant, and will Jessie preach?

Anonymous said...

He was shot in a dorm, but not the dorm he lived in.

At least one access point of the key card system apparently isn't activated unti 10:00 pm.

The key card system doesn't regulate who or how many people go through even if it is activated. One person with a card. their own or someone else's, can let the entire student body through the open door.

I think the press has been doing a fairly good job in releasing information. Enough for the general public to know basically what happened without releasing soo much that it screws up the investigation and prosecution.

Very, very tragic...and my heart gors out to ALL of the families...victim (mostly), and the alleged perpetrators. But let's just call a spade a spade...IF this was a black kid killed by whites we would have heard about nothing else since! TV, newspaper, radio, other blacks, etc, etc...this is a sad freakin' world!

Now let the Dems come rolling in with their asinine comments...

ALP,

The Dedmon kid killed a black guy..and he wasn't even the biggest story in Mississippi over the last year.

What was the biggest story IYO?

The pardons got much more ink/air time in the state and nationally.

Shadowfax said...

5:58; without judging one way or the other, I suspect the Dedmon-Anderson story got more repetitive days of coverage than any other story from the time it occurred until the ten days after the date of sentencing. If you think not, can you name another?

Anonymous said...

The legs of the Dedmon story were far, far longer than the pardons mess especially when it became apparent to legal briefers briefing the national media that Hood had his cart replete w/ mullet a mile before his staid Mississippi constitutional horse.

The national media has no use for hick state AGs once they've shown they ain't holding an unbeatable hand face-up.

About 95,000 results for "Deryl Dedmon"

Local media abandoned Twitty also. Victim's rights poseur Donna Ladd flipped so far she could have won the Olympics asymmetric bars comp against any prepubescent Chinese challenger after claiming she had predicted a MS Sup Ct reversal of Conway. That fantastical notion, of course, coming after her entertainment micro-weekly had shouldered the water equivalent of a small reservoir backstopping Hood with their repeated attacks on Barbour.

Searching 'Donna Ladd Late IRS Taxes' generates 1,030,000 Google results.

Does that make it a bigger story than Deryl Dedmon and his hate crime?

Ouch. Did I hit a nerve?

Although I am curious how doing a simple Google search makes me a "professional" anything. Do they pay people for that?

I am surprised the carjacking/kidnapping in Madison hasn't made it on here yet! Or did I miss it!

Shoving an elderly white man at gunpoint into the trunk of the car by three black males -

who done it, & why? said...

OK. Lets leave off all the "google search whatever/whevever" statistics; leave off all the Madison/Rankin/Hinds bs; the JFP crap, and everything else. Yes, they might have some relevance here, but not sure what they are.

This case - yes, this case, which is what this posting is about - is three black dudes killed a white student. Other than that, at this time, we don't know THE FACTS as found by the LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. They have done what appears to be a good job of law enforcement, chasing down leads, following up on them without disclosing pertinant facts. (Yes, I do believe that the CL could have disclosed the FACT that the suspects were black, but that is absolutely against their policy of identifying potential suspects).

This has nothing to do with carjacking in Madison. Or with Donna (the bitch) Ladd's taxes. Or anything else other than three gunmen who shot an individual in a dorm at MSU.

I want to hear who done it. And why. And what was involved. Not about JFP, CL, or any of the other BS here. Can't you all focus for at least a second??

Interesting that you want to leave out references to and commentary on news stories posted other places. Considering that the only 2 posts KF has made on the subject are both links to other sources, that leaves us with little to discuss unless you just want to speculate on rumors and innuendo.

Curiosity as to the motive, suspects, etc is perfectly normal, but we have no actual rights to the information. Prior to the trial, that decision lies with the authorities. If they decide not to tell us unwashed masses all the details of the investigaton there's really not much we can do about it, other than complain in the comments section on a blog.

Two arrested, one to go. Controlled substance mentioned by MSU spokesperson in paper today. Danks gives stern admonition to jacking perps. One momma falls out in the hall wailing like she be in church. Kangaroo is reading PERS updates. That is all.

rumor has it is that this execution was a pay back for the Fla self defence killing last week...if so, HATE CRIME! yo Jerry! spill some ink on this one..dig a little and if so, you may even win another 1/2 million for all of your boring rattle and hum!

We need to organize a march on 'State! They had an obvious lack of security if three armed thugs can access a University-owned dorm and assassinate a student. I am sure the lack of security on campus will look good for recruiting.

Shadowfax said...

Delta; you don't seriously think 'the legs of a story' is determined by the number of Google hits, do you? We are locally 'subjected to' the Clarion Ledger Newspaper. That medium covered the Dedmon-Anderson story considerably more than any other story during the timeframe. If the student up at MSU had been black, the campus would be shut down by now.

SDN has learned Sanderson served time in the Walnut Grove Correctional Facility in 2010. According to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, he served in the Regimented Inmate Discipline (RID) program at Walnut Grove from May 12 to Dec. 3 that year. He was sentenced, after a plea in Madison County Circuit Court, to two years each on two counts of simple assault and five years probation on conspiracy to commit a crime. Madison Police Department’s daily report shows that on Feb. 17, 2010, he was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault on Grandview Boulevard in Madison

AGREED!!!

Regardless of the path this young man took in his past he was obviously trying to better himself by obtaining an education. No matter the circumstances he did not deserve the death he recieved. It is my opinion that the students who allowed the 3 thugs into Evans Dorm should be charged with Accessory to Murder.

"Is Obama phoning the family yet?"
Thanks for the morning chuckle.

What if one of the students that let these thugs in was in fact the deceased? Do we even know who let them in? I agree that the people who let them in should be punished in some way. I am more concerned and outraged that truly innocent people had their safety jeopardized by young men who were seeking to buy or sell drugs, thus endangering the lives of the entire building by letting these a-holes into the dorm.

Watch this WAPT report very carefully and especially take note of Keenum's words between 1:25 and 2:05.

Sanderson was one of three students who "invited" the killers to MSU.

Anonymous said...

We don't know what this young man that was killed was doing. Regardless he was murdered. No doubt about that is it?

His step-Dad said on the news he was told by the officers that night who told him about the death that his step-son opened the door to the dorm room and was shot, and the two young students who were in the dorm room with him went out the window of the first floor dorm room to get away from the thugs.

The race of the suspects was out very quickly. Might not have been in the paper or on the TV, but most people knew. Very shortly after the killing on campus, Brandon Marcello, the Clarion Ledger sports beat guy for MSU, tweeted that the suspects were three black males in a Crown Victoria Ford. I read it myself. Also, students knew, and they were texting, tweeting, calling, and talking. It was NO secret in a matter of minutes the three suspects were black.

Jackson criminals with Rankin County plates. What gives?

Anonymous said...

12:51 It is obvious from the carefully worded statement of Dr.Keenum that the thugs more than likely gained entry from the deceased and two others. Still, no one's child deserve's a death such as this. We are living in a different World and our kids are having to deal with so many many difficult things. Breaks my heart.

March 26 2:59 PM and March 27 10:22 AM are exactly correct. March 27 11:15 AM you are wrong. He was not trying to “better” himself. He had gotten “sick” of the “harassment” by Madison PD and was po’d because he could no longer smoke pot on his back patio without the neighbors calling police so he moved the party to Starkville. Unfortunately (insert sarcasm here) his parents could not put him in an apartment so he was living on campus so I’m guessing the party wasn’t quite what he thought it would be. I know this sounds as though I’m speaking ill of the dead but Sanderson lived 2 streets over from me—about 5 houses as the crow flies—and he (and his friends) have caused nothing but trouble for 2 years now. It’s been an on-going headache and frankly a dangerous situation. He was one messed up kid who had no regard for anyone else but himself. Madison PD has been great about monitoring the house frequently until Sanderson decided to move out of Madison to get away from the “harassment” of Madison PD. I am sad that his murder took place on MSU’s campus but at the same time I am grateful it did not take place in my neighborhood. It was only a matter of time. His step-dad and certainly his mother are not credible sources. A la Robbie Bell, Ms. Patton (Sanderson's mom) has lived in a state of denial and been the ultimate enabler for years.
PS fun story: Bert Case was walking the street lunch time Monday--trying to find someone who would comment on Sanderson--no one would. That should tell you all you need to know about his character if no one is willing to comment on him after his death.

Jackson crime? I think 2 of the guys are from Rankin County.

I stand corrected... DAMN

Mad Co Mom of 2:

Thank you! You are absolutely correct. I am close friends with one of his nearby neighbors, who has told me many times of what a mess this kid was, long before this whole incident took place. So this did not surprise me in the least. Obviously, he did not deserve to be murdered, no one does, and that is very unfortunate. I do hope there are severe consequences for the boys who knowingly let these thugs in the building. Innocent boys were put in harm's way all because of what looks like a drug deal gone wrong.

I would welcome for you and the members of your coffee clutching kangaroo court to come visit me (his stepdad and his enabling mother) to discuss your feelings at my home (two streets over, 5 houses as the crow flies). Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
