Videos & Photos from Staff Sergeant Jason Roger's funeral.

Here are video and photos from the funeral of Marine Staff Sergeant Jason Rogers today. I think these all speak for themselves and need no description. Over 600 bikers showed up to ride in the Patriot Guard to escort the final journey of Staff Sergeant Rogers. Special thanks to Billy Redd for shooting the videos and Jeff Perkins for taking the pictures.

May he rest in peace and his sacrifice not go in vain.

this literally brings tears. For those that question the ways of Mississippi, yes, we definitely have our issues, but we "get" the big stuff.

I just got back. Have never seen so many motorcycles in my life.

I went to the visitation. I do not know this family nor the hero being honored. I went and sat in the seats and watched the pictures of Staff Sgt. Rogers. This young man was decked out with medals (PLURAL) about 8-10 of them over his heart and his ribbons on the other side. How proud his parents must be of this fine young man. I would also say kudos to Rankin county and all the patriots that showed up today. It looked like there were at least 300 plus motorcycles there today at Ott and Lee. I drove by as they were getting ready to leave. That was a scene I will never forget. I can;t imagine how the family must feel seeing the outpouring of support. God I love this place.

did Westboro show up, does anyone know?

I did not see any at Pinelake or the cemetery.

All the flags and people on the side of the road made me so proud to be an American.

Thank you to all that came out today. Thank you to the Patriot Guard for your service. Thank you to the men and women of the armed services.

Had the distinct pleasure of being one of the hundreds of people who lined the roadway up to Pinelake Church as the procession made it's way to the church. Was amazed at the diversity of those who came to stand in solidarity for this valiant young Marine who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom! there must have been over 400 Patriot Guard and other bikers. What a moving experience. Never prouder to be a Mississippian! Ooorah...Semper Fi!

Apparrently this in-bred cult realized
that "rules" are just a bit different in Mississippi.

Thank's to the Patriot Gaurd and EVERYONE that prevented
these idiots from disrupting a hero's funeral.

They also failed to show in Atlanta last week after making a big deal about being there.

Their 15 minutes is about up...BB

They were at the Ramada Inn at the airport last night. They did not get a permit to protest and they were not allowed to! Their trip was for basically nothing.

I heard they would try to go to the cemetery but hopefully they did not.

I was one of the MANY with flags lining the highway at the entrance to Pinelake. And I was at the cemetery too. And I can say that there is nobody, not even a lunatic cultist, who would take one look at that crowd there and even think about drawing attention to himself. The Patriot Guard Riders did a fantastic job of protecting Jason's family and ensuring his right to a respectful and dignified burial. The display of love by everyone out there was overwhelming. Jason deserved no less.

What the hell do you expect 9:59. David Hampton and the Clarion-Ledger no longer represent the metro area.

God bless the new media.

IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!

I was not at Pinelake, but did attend the graveside. It was one of the most moving things I've witnessed in quite some time. God bless this fine young man & his family, and thank God that those despicable people did not show up.

I just viewed all of the photos of the funeral and processional from the Clarion Ledger this morning. Other than those in uniform, of the THOUSANDS of people there, I counted one...ONE...black person in attendance.

Why would that be?

Anonymous said...

I was there and there were five or six.

9:43, Did you attend this funeral?

... I counted one...ONE...black person in attendance.

Why does it even matter?

Anonymous said...

I was there. I was not counting, but I saw at least 5-10 African Americans. Including some in uniform.

God bless his family, and bring peace to them in their grief. I can't imagine how devastating it would be to lose my valiant young son, but there's no greater, unselfish, or more noble love than giving your life to save another, and that's what Jason did. He has returned to God, and God is well pleased with him. We can never fully appreciate what our soldiers go through on our behalf.

I guess we can thank those crazy Westboro people if their threats spurned people to come out to show their support for Mr. Rogers' family because they deserve it. So thank you nutjobs for inspiring me to do something I should have done anyway.

I rode my motorcycle with the Patriot Guard Thursday, Friday & Saturday to honor Jason & to help protect his family from the "Uglies". My husband rode with us Friday & Saturday. They are such a great bunch of people and we love what they stand for. We have now become members along with a lot of others that rode with them on this mission.

And for whom ever said something about "only one black person there" doesn't know what they are talking about. Not that it really matters. They must not have been there themself because there were several there.

Rest In Peace Jason

8:09, Well said my friend, well said. I felt the same way and I feel ashamed it took a bunch of delusional wack jobs to make me show the type of support that all military deserve, at LEAST! God bless the Rogers family and Jason. He made a community proud.

Except I should have said "spurred people." Thank you Jason and thank you Rogers family and thank you Westboro crazies for making me think about the sacrifices Jason and his family made for all of us.

Um, its Scott McKay. No sources quoted in the story and well, lets just say he is not the most um, accurate person in the world not to mention Purple and Gold Magazine and some other ventures.

Westboro stuff was a rumor. 100% a rumor. Nothing in that article happened nor did the event of the comment above happened. They were never here. We were tweeting with Margie Phelps the day of the funeral. The entire family was in Kansas and never came to MS.

I'm not sure why someone hasn't fact checked that article concerning his claims of what happened.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
